Met Them At The Pole

As you would or not know, I am doing my teaching prac at Alex Hills State High School. Most schools have a yearly event called ‘Met You At The Pole’ which gathers Christians, yes, at a pole. And not just that, but to pray for their school. Really great today, being able to meet other Christian students, staff, church leaders and pastors. So encouraged because every heart wanted to see the salvation of their school. I believe that the sincere prayers lifted up today did not fall on dead ground, but into the ears of the all mighty, all wonderful, all powerful and living God. Definitely inspired!

Matthew 1:1-11 – The Genealogy of Jesus

Jesus’ family line perfectly aligns with the criteria fortold for the Messiah’s family line. What does this alignment demonstrate?

  • it demonstrates the truth of propoecy foretold
  • is demonstrates the birth of divinity through fallen mankind
  • it demonstrates the birth of a miracle dispite those who had many mistakes
  • it demonstrates that the way was made for Jesus through these generations
  • it demonstrates the weight of responsibility of those that preceded Jesus

If who came before Jesus holds much significance for the way for Him to be made, then how much more should those that come after Him, carry that for which He was all about. Thats YOU!

Fresh Delivery

Greetings blog viewers! Yes, yes the moment you have been waiting for. It’s been bakin in the oven, stewin in the pot, brewin in the boiler. Burnt, over cooked, breweded (yes I know that is not a word). Finally, the first blog entry.

This will be the portal in which I will scribe down my thoughts, happenings in the day and encounters with the Almighty. I hope that you will be blessed and also learn from all that God is teaching me.

Issue 35 // Ablaze! E-Zine [Ignite & Voltage Edition]

THE LOW DOWN

I know that this is probably against blog rules, but for my first post I will attempt to do the low down, what was meant for yesterday’s e-Zine. Well, actually there are no rules, because I MAKE THEM! So there!

Anyways, I just wanted to share briefly on a passage of scripture that God has placed upon my heart for this season in my life and I believe in the life of many of us in IGVO (for all non-ablaze/IGVO readers, IGVO is Ignite & Voltage, the best group of young high schoolers in the whole universe!) .

Psalm 11 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Praise God for the awesome things He is doing in IGVO. I am so encouraged to see the many, many people God is adding unto us. It’s like you blink and out from no where pops a new face. Not only this, but seeing people connect themselves into a loving community of believers. I hear from a lot of people, that they genuinely love to be around and spend time with each other. No wonder why our new visitors seem to gel into our group so easily.

You know, with many more people I believe that will come along our way, they will look at us as models (sorry not the kind you are thinking of!). Role models. Example setters. I believe that our group has amazing potential to grow, that is no doubt. But, what will be the very foundation of which Ignite and Voltage rests upon? What will be the very source of the lives we live? What will be the very life that people that come across our path with see, follow and rest in?

Psalm 1:1-shows us what our lives are meant to look like. “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers” (v1). Who and what are you allowing to influence you today? You are YOU today because of the influences you have had in your life. The thing about influence is that whatever you alow to influence you, YOU will become. Dont allow the thins of this world to influence us today. Blessed is the man who does this. So then, “his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night” (V2). God is our ultimate source. His Word is our spiritual nourishment.

Is this your ultimate influence? Do you allow the Word to reside and take depth in  you day and night? So, now what happens to some who does this?

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (V3)

Wow, God promises fruitfulness and prosperity for those who plant themselves in Him. The Bible illustrates this to be someone who is like a tree PLANTED by streams of water. Can you imagine what your life could be like if you lived like this?

I hope and pray that this will be what IGVO builds upon. For there will everything receive life!

In Christ

Nick

Stay tuned for more. Its cooking.

Shaping Your Character – Your Perspective

Wow, has it not been a hectic few weeks. It’s like I feel the drawing of the Lord to pen down my thoughts – or rather type them down. I can’t believe through, how quickly time is flying. It is already the end of February. It seems like I was only just thinking about goals for this year yesterday.

I think a lot of the things God has been teaching me lately is surrounded and associated with being stuck in a moment, struggling in my own efforts and strength. Due to being so choleric, I find myself driven by the objectives of a task, so focused and committed to seeing whatever is before me, at the work of my hand get accomplished. And not just that, but see it get done effectively, exhaustively, comprehensively, thoroughly, carefully and systematically. Yes, it can be quite annoying to work on a project with me. Beware!

Don’t get me wrong, it is not all bad. It’s just that the sword has two edges (this topic deserves another whole blog entry to itself).

I find so many times though, that my head gets stuck in the moment. And I begin to ask the wrong questions. How can I do this? Rather than, how would God have me do this? Or, what is God teaching me through this? How can I get through this? Rather than, how are You changing me through this?

I think a lot of times the reason why we are just existing rather than really living. Or why we may experience problems, instead of opportunities, is our perspective. What kind of questions are you asking yourself today?

Many times we ask, God why can’t you change my situation? But I believe, God would say right back to us, because I want to change you first.

Shaping Your Destiny – Your Attitude

Well, today was the first uni day for 2007. I’m itching to finish, as it is my final year (also 6th year… itch itch). Again, trying to wake up this morning was tough, trying to wipe away the sleep from my eyes. Lack of motivation to go to uni was magnified seeing as though I have to go in 2 weeks earlier and also since it is my 6th year.

This whole week is what you call the “Teacher Preparatory Week”. During this week the university will provide us with people from outside that would share about their experiences in teaching in secondary schools and what to expect when we become high school teachers. Quite honestly, my whole attitude toward this week had been quite crummy. I was imagining myself sitting in these typical lectures, dozing off into boredom as I could be thinking of so many things that I have to do on my to do list. This was probably the same attitude I had as a result of having difficulty in waking up this morning.

Right from the start of lectures, my eyes had started to glaze over. You know when you are in a moment that you wish sped up, or finished faster? When you have a sour attitude, not wanting to be in a situation or place you are currently in. I think we’ve all been there. It may be bumping into the person you really despise and also despise the moment in which you are spending with them or in school waiting for class to be over, for the end of day bell to ring its wonderful melodious overture.

*Nudge, Nudge* Then, it was the still small voice of God nudging me. God was reminding me once again about my attitude, showing me that even if there was something He wanted to do like speak to me or reveal His will at that moment, my attitude was not ready. My heart in that moment was closed, not listening and being disengaged with the moment I was in. So, you would think, well after all it is just a uni lecture. I have learnt too many times that God is always right. So, therefore the issue is with me.

Wow, after repenting for my attitude, I did not realise was would begin to ensue. I then choose to listen with an open, willing and sincere heart. Today, out of the many years of being at uni was when I had really begun to feel the reality of becoming a high school teacher. A lot of what was shared today had clarified the reason why I am studying education. It brought back the passion God had placed in my heart in the first place when he called me study to become a high school teacher. This was a divine moment that rekindled the burning fire of God’s call for my life.

My attitude, from what had seemed a mundane moment, exchanged ordinary to extraordinary. I have learnt a valuable lesson. Your attitude has the potent potential to shape the moments of your destiny.
